Lee Dodds ‘Hawthorn Blossom II’

Glass – Painted, fused and leaded.

£235

I was first drawn to glass because of its versatility and the opportunity to be creative with an art form that doesn’t always have to be exact. My favourite process is to work with warm glass – fusing, slumping and enamelling. I love the way glass looks during different times of the day. I like using bold colours in an abstract manner.

I am inspired by coastlines, countryside and natural light. The artists that make me feel happy are David Hockney, Mark Rothko, Peter Blake and Antony Gormley.
My piece is inspired by a David Hockney painting called “Hawthorne Blossom”, which really focuses on the way light influences nature.
